Supportive Counseling Services through Meaningful Day Services, Inc.
(MDS) has the advantage of serving individuals in their homes. Home-based
counseling provides the advantage of assessing and treating individuals in the
environment where their difficulties occur. Counselors can more accurately
assess challenges based on environmental variables, significant relationships,
and obtain a more accurate picture of the nature and extend of the individual’s
difficulties. Participation in counseling is generally facilitated with such an
approach. Office-based services can be provided when more appropriate.
Our counselors are experienced in working with individuals dealing with a
wide range of mental health issues. Children challenged with Attention Deficit
Disorders, Separation Anxiety, School-based behavior difficulties,
Developmental disorders including Autism, for example, are served provided
that they assessed to benefit from counseling services. Family therapy is often
deemed to be needed to assist parents and family members in understanding
their child’s difficulties and learning ways to contribute to the child’s
improvement. Counseling services are also provided to adults with difficulties
including Anxiety Disorders, Mood Disorders, Psychotic Disorders, as well as
Developmental Disabilities, provided they are assessed to be able to engage in
the counseling process. Referrals will be provided for psychiatric services as
well as other needed services.
Additionally, our counselors are well acquainted with crisis situations, and can
be more readily available for assistance, in contrast to office-based services, in
which one must wait for an appointment and rely on emergency room
interventions. With this service, crisis often can be averted through home-based
counseling.
Through Supportive Counseling Services, recommendations can be made
regarding school inclusion, work-related considerations,
psychopharmacological interventions, and the appropriateness of the living
environment.
