Behavior Management
Meaningful Day Services, Inc. (MDS) provides behavior consultation services to
children and adults challenged with a variety of behavioral difficulties.  These
services are home-based, although consultants will assess individual’s needs in
any environment, including the community, work, school, residential facilities,
and in the context of the family.  The behavior consultants assess and intervene
with a wide range of behavioral difficulties that range from relatively mild to
severe behaviors that may pose risks to the individual as well as others.

Behavior consulting is often a pivotal service to the individual served.  Behavior
replacement along with adaptive skills development are generally needed by
individuals with developmental challenges regardless of their level of
functioning.   An individual need not necessarily have severe behaviors in order
to benefit from behavior consulting. Too many times, once an identified
individual has ceased aggressive behavior or self injurious behavior, it is
assumed they have received maximum benefit.  Our consultants are concerned
with many other challenges that individuals face, such as being able to socialize
with peers, adaptive to challenges in the community, and be able to relate the
preferences to those supporting them.

Many of our consultants are also licensed therapists and are available to
provide counseling services in situations where this is a more appropriate
intervention that traditional behavior management.  We have south to provide
such services to individuals facing the long waiting list for the Medicaid
Waivers – in order to provide assistance rather than waiting years to start
interventions for their family member.

MDS Behavior Consultants provide the following:

•        An active member of the treatment team
•        A positive, constructive approach to behavioral problems
•        Regular visits to environments with behavioral issues
•        An individual relationship with the client and family
•        A functional assessment plan of problematic and positive behaviors
•        Development of support plans and medication reduction plans
•        Training for family and staff to implement any interventions
•        Monthly and Quarterly Progress Reports that include all behavior issues
•        Referrals for other services deemed by the functional assessment
o        consultations with treating psychiatrist
o        other therapy needs – including counseling and social skills training.

Meaningful Day Services, Inc. places strong emphasis on the development of
an individual relationship with their clients and families, and adheres to a
“hands-on” philosophy in working with consumers.  Our consultants engage
personally in interventions and evaluate progress on an ongoing basis.   They,
in turn, work for the needs of children in school settings as well as adults in
community and work settings. Funding for this service is provided through
Waiver, ICLB and private pay.

You will find our consultants to be very passionate about their work and about
achieving positive outcomes.
