Adult Day Services
Our Adult Day Services program has recently moved into its new
building at the beginning of December over off the Airport
Expressway on the Southwest side of Indianapolis. We will be
opening our doors for services before the end of this year and
anticipate great things to evolve from this program. We are
currently accepting new consumers and would like to invite you to
call us at 317-248-0016 to speak with the Director, Amy Richards,
for more information or to come by for a tour of our facility. We
will be having an Open House for all to attend in the upcoming
months-so check back frequently to look for the date of this event!
Behavior Management:
Over the past year, behavior management services has continued
to expand with the addition of veteran behavior consultants in the
North and South parts of the state. There have also been additions
to the team in Central Indiana, with both male and female
consultants available to assist consumers. We now have 18
behavior consultants available statewide.
MDS strives to meet clients' needs by providing the best possible
match of behavior consultants based on the clients' preferences and
comfort level. ABA services were added during 2007, and
Meaningful Day Services became the first certified ABA provider
on the Medicaid waiver. ABA services targets intensive services for,
but not limited to, children on the autism spectrum.
Finally, behavior management services will be provided to
individuals in Northern Kentucky in 2008, as work has been done
to become a certified provider in that location. Behavior consultants
generally service individuals in the home or other applicable
environments, but now can also offer office services in Greenwood,
Brownsburg, and Ft. Wayne.

Recreational Therapy
This has been an exciting year of growth for Recreational Therapy.
Our department has more than doubled in size in the past year,
with the addition of 6 new therapists:
Maria Huynh serving Central Indiana
Kimberly Wilhite serving Northeastern Indiana
Alisha Key serving Northeastern Indiana
Cassandra Muterspaw serving Central Indiana
Tiffany Wathen serving Southeastern Indiana
Danielle Micheal serving Central Indiana
***We have therapists accepting new clients in the following counties: Adams, Allen,
Bartholomew, Green, Hamilton, Huntington, Jackson, Jennings, Johnson, Lawrence, Marion,
Monroe, Morgan, Shelby, Wells, and Whitley.
Our department has been working cohesively with the Music
Therapists to reintroduce drum circles and recreation groups for
individuals in central Indiana. The south side program was
discontinued last year due to challenges with finding a new
location to facilitate the program. We plan to have this program
up and running again at the new day treatment facility in January
2008.
We are also in the process of getting our Recreational Therapists
approved to provide Developmental Therapy through First Steps.
We are in the final stages of the application process and hope to
have this service established by the summer of 2008.

Music Therapy
The music therapy department welcomed several talented
therapists in 2007 including Lara Trimpe, Heather Palmer, Lindsay
Plocher, Brittney Mortimer, and Sarah Scott. Each therapist has
brought a unique set of gifts and talents along with a desire to
share their musical skills with people of all abilities.
MDS music therapists also produced bi-annual spring and fall
concerts in Indianapolis and Fort Wayne. During these concerts,
consumers showcased their talents by performing how music is
specifically utilized to meet their non-musical goals.
Monthly drum circles continued in both northern Indianapolis and
Fort Wayne as well. As an MDS music therapist saw the need to
provide a re-occurring musical event for clients living in New
Castle, a monthly drum circle emerged in the spring 2007. Our
music therapists enjoy helping our clients find ways to meet their
non-musical goals by creating, structuring, and facilitating, a large
group experience. As MDS expands, look for a drum circle location
in an area near you.
Music therapists at MDS serve both individuals on the Medicaid
waiver and also through private pay contracts. If you are interested
in receiving music therapy for yourself or your loved one, please
contact the main office at (317) 858-8630.
